Getting To & Around Agra
The best way to get around Agra is by auto-rickshaw. They can navigate the city streets at a startling pace and are very reasonably priced. Air-conditioned taxis can be much more expensive than auto-rickshaws, so use them sparingly or only in the extreme heat. Walking between top attractions just isn't possible due to the distance.
Most travelers fly into Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) and then hop a train to Agra. On a daily basis, several trains pass through the Agra Cantt train station, a stop on the main Delhi-Mumbai line that is located in the southwest part of the city. You'll find a cluster of taxis and auto-rickshaws in front of the station. For more information on India's national rail service, consult its official website. You can also reach Agra by bus; however, it is very slow. The trip between Delhi's Sarai Kale Khan bus station and Agra's Idgah bus station can take at least five hours. You can use an English-language booking site (like Via.com) to book bus fare, though you usually do not need to book your travel arrangements too far advance. Air travel has ceased since no passenger flights use Agra's Kheria Airport (AGR).
