|About these ratings|
Named for a Dutch artist, the Albert Cuypmarkt is a large street market (the largest in the Netherlands) that carries everything from fresh foods to clothing and other odds and ends. Lonely Planet says this is the place to "experience the 'real' Amsterdam at its multicultural best."
To get here, jump off Tram 16 or 24 at the Albert Cuypstraat stop in the De Pijp neighborhood. Visit Monday through Saturday, about 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but keep your wallets and purses protected; pickpockets are known to prowl the crowds. If you're looking to fight fewer crowds, visit on a weekday.
