|About these ratings|
Anguilla has approximately 33 beaches, but none more popular than Shoal Bay East. This northern shore is set up to entertain daytrippers from St. Martin/St. Maarten, so there are plenty of bars and restaurants, plus rental equipment for snorkeling, parasailing and scuba diving.
With Shoal Bay East's popularity comes crowds, and plenty of them. Read a few user reviews of the area, and you'll get a pretty clear idea of what you're in for. One epinions user waxes eloquent: "The beach is idyllic and (at least when I went in late June/early July) extremely quiet. The water is beautiful and warm." But a Travelpod reviewer cuts to the chase: "The day at the beach was ok," she notes, "The beach itself is quite nearly picture perfect but there are too many tourists, sunbeds and umbrellas there to make it the perfect Caribbean beach."
Like other beaches on Anguilla, Shoal Bay East is free to enjoy any day, any time, with available parking on the main road.
