About these ratings

A favorite among kids and fans of the network, CNN Center offers a glimpse into the channel's world headquarters — the largest of its 48 global bureaus. Entrance to the building, which boasts fast food and full-service restaurants, retail shops and more is free. But if you want to get a behind-the-scenes look at the studios, you'll have to pay. The 50-minute tour starts with a ride on the world's longest freestanding escalator and continues with a look at how each broadcast is produced, including the inner workings of the teleprompter and cameras. You'll also get the chance to sit behind an anchor desk and practice reading the news from a teleprompter. Brush up on CNN's scheduled programming because you can even sit in on a live broadcast of one of the network's on-air shows.

Recent visitors were pleased with the tour and found it informative, but warn that you have to climb down several flights of stairs, which can be difficult on those with mobility issues. Reviewers also mentioned that this tour was something you only need to do once, as many of the channel's famous personalities like Anderson Cooper, Christiane Amanpour and Don Lemon are not based in Atlanta. Plus, the tour does not guarantee that there will be a live broadcast during your visit. If you want to ensure you'll see a live broadcast, try to plan your visit on a weekday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., during the network's regular programming.

CNN Center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tours depart every 10 minutes; the last tour is at 5 p.m. Tour tickets cost $16 for adults, $15 for seniors and students ages 13 to 18, and $13 for children ages 4 to 12. CNN Center also participates in the Atlanta CityPASS, meaning you'll save on tickets if you also plan to visit the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola and Zoo Atlanta, among several other participating attractions.
