| About these ratings | ||
When tourists want to go on an urban walk, many head to Queen Street. Here, you'll find stores like Billabong and The Diamond Shop, as well as other notable establishments like Auckland Town Hall and the Bank of New Zealand building. Many of the shops close their doors at 5 p.m., so be sure to take your stroll earlier in the day.
One VirtualTourist user recommends checking out Queen Street's less famous offshoots: "One street back from Queen Street is High Street, it has great shops (more boutique than the ones on Queen Street) and lots of good cafés, bars and clubs." Lorne Street also earns praise for its smattering of interesting stores, which include bookshops and galleries.
Queen Street starts at the Queens Wharf on the waterfront and trails almost two miles through the city. The LINK buses also make frequent stops along this street.
