| About these ratings | ||
New Zealand invented bungee jumping, so extreme sports are du jour. If you have even the slightest urge to hurl yourself into the air, you should check out the SkyJump in Auckland. What exactly is the SkyJump? The company describes it as "Base Jumping, while attached to a wire." You'll "free fall" for 11 seconds before coming to a smooth (and safe) landing on the Sky City Plaza. You can also purchase a Look 'n' Leap package, which allows you to take a walk around the Sky Tower before jumping off of it.
Some travelers say the SkyJump isn't as extreme as it sounds. One TripAdvisor user says: "As you are guided down along a cable, the jump does feel very controlled. It almost felt too safe." Although for some, this might be a point in SkyJump's favor.
You'll find the Sky Tower in central Auckland on Federal Street. The SkyJump costs $225 NZD (about $185 USD) for one adult, while the Look 'n' Leap costs $290 NZD ($238 USD) for one adult. There are discounted SkyJump prices for students and children. For more information, visit the official SkyJump website.
