Church Street Marketplace is the place to be in Burlington; a car-free walkway buzzing with the town's off-beat vibe. Explore the hip shops along the stretch, or take a seat at one of the many open-air cafes and watch the funky street performers nearby.

But some say that the area's gone downhill in recent years. One TripAdvisor user notes: "I used to visit Church Street every weekend, and many evenings during the week. … Now, it smells funny, there is graffiti and trash everywhere, and the panhandlers are overwhelming."
