|About these ratings|
This late July through early August event is one of Columbus' most popular. Basically, it's a giant fair complete with a Ferris wheel and cotton candy, plus a cache of 4H competitions that range in theme from fashion to draft horses. And there's also big-name performers: In 2011, Ke$ha performed, as did Loretta Lynn and the Oak Ridge Boys.
One TripAdvisor user raves about the Ohio State Fair: "The layout is ideal as there is a primary North-South walkway which branches off to multiple exhibits. Many vendors in the air-conditioned buildings add to the delight. This is an annual event for our family and is never the same experience. Don't miss the Butter Cow exhibit!"
It's open from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. in late July through early August, as mentioned. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $8 for kids between the ages of five and 12. You'll find it just north of downtown Columbus, accessible via I-71 off of exit 111. For more information, visit the official website.
