About these ratings

Colorado is world-renowned for their ski slopes and resorts. The closest to downtown Denver -- Loveland Ski Area -- keeps skiers entertained all season long with dozens of runs. Its popularity can be a downside, however. At certain times of the year, particularly the winter holidays, lift lines can grow long. Recent guests have said that avid skiers might be disappointed, but the occasional skier will be content with the numerous groomed and un-groomed runs.  For the snowboarder, the terrain park contains plenty of rails and jumps.  You can choose from a deli, a cafeteria or a bar for midday ski snacks and lunch options.

Loveland is also one of the more affordable ski resorts. Open from October to March, lift tickets range from approximately $47 in the early season to $59 in the regular season. Check the website to look at your skiing options and learn about special deals.
