Edinburgh Military Tattoo

The ever-popular Military Tattoo is a nearly month-long festival, filled with historical reenactments and performances by drill teams and military marching bands -- and not just by the Scottish, either, though don’t worry: You will be wowed by your fair share of kilts and bagpipes. But dozens of other countries show up to display their national pride at this festival. To give you a sense of its popularity, it reaches capacity each year at 217,000. Military Tattoo kicks off in early August, but you should buy your tickets months in advance.
