About these ratings

Hilton Head's tourism website boasts of 25 golf courses on the island that "go from good, to better to best." And vacationers describe the fairways and greens of the Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort as among the best maintained and most fun to play. There are three 18-hole courses on the premises -- the Robert Trent Jones Oceanfront Course, the George Fazio Course and the Arthur Hills Course -- perfect for placating vacationing putters.

A family tells TripAdvisor, "Our experience at the Arthur Hills course in Palmetto Dunes was nothing shy of spectacular!!" About the Robert Trent Jones course, one traveler states, "Nice experience overall. A little pricey (about $70 at 3:00 p.m.) but I had a good and fun time overall. Will play it again next time." Traditionally the cheapest option of the three, the George Fazio course is a "well laid out course with perfectly placed bunkers," says a Golflink.com reviewer.

The Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort is centrally located on Hilton Head, off Highway U.S. 278 on Queens Folly Road. The courses offer tee times from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. each day. Most recommend you make reservations ahead of time (the website allows online reserves up to 90 days in advance). Prices vary by tee time and course, but expect to pay approximately $100 between green and cart fees.
