Walking into the lobby of The St. Regis Princeville, you know immediately that you are at the topthe top of the hotel that is. That's where you'll find the lobby, affording jaw-dropping views of the ocean and Kauai's lush coast. Between Hanalei Bay and Kauai's rugged mountains, the resort's stunning location sets this St. Regis property apart from the competition, as does its golf courses and Halele'a Spa. According to previous visitors, the guest rooms are just as impressive: The St. Regis Princeville forgoes the kitschy tropical decor in favor of decorative accents that touch upon the resort's natural surroundings, such as a color palette of blues, greens, beiges and oranges. Rooms also come with home theater systems, 300-thread-count linens and, in some cases, balconies. The St. Regis Princeville also houses multiple distinct restaurants, all of which use ingredients that have been grown or produced on the island. Another perk? Starwood Preferred Guests can earn or redeem points here for additional stay benefits. more

The resort's accommodations range from standard guest rooms to three-bedroom villas and they include minifridges, Wi-Fi access and deep-soaking tubs. Obviously, this resort was designed with kids in mind: Aulani invites families to take advantage of the kid-friendly pools and water play areas, as well as the resort's own snorkeling lagoon, Rainbow Reef. Should parents need some alone time, they can drop the kids off at Aunty's Beach House for supervised activities and head off to the spa for a massage or to the fairways of the Ko Olina Golf Club. Having recently finished up a round of refurbishments, Aulani receives high praise from previous guests, who describe this Disney hotel as relaxed and lovely. Recognizing The Royal Hawaiian isn't difficult at all. This bubble gum pink property has dominated the Waikiki shoreline for almost 90 years. Don't worry: Recent renovations toned down the interior of this Luxury Collection property, with guest rooms now featuring only a splash or two of bright, bold patterns. Accommodations here also come with amenities like LCD TVs, high-speed Internet access and Gilchrist & Soames toiletries. Overall, previous guests enjoyed staying at this hotel. Although you will have to rush to get a seat by the pool, you can always take advantage of how close The Royal Hawaiian is to the best stretches of Waikiki's midway sands instead. The property also houses the full-service Abhasa Spa, while fresh seafood can be enjoyed in style at the jewel-toned Azure Restaurant. But take note: Many visitors say that a stay at The Royal Hawaiian will cost you — in the opinion of some, a little too much for the service provided. However, this hotel participates in the Starwood Preferred Guest rewards program, meaning members can cash in their points for perks. more

Some say that the Grand Hyatt's exceptional staff will make you feel right at home. However, your home probably doesn't have immaculately kept tropical grounds, a sand-bottomed lagoon pool or a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. This resort treats Kauai travelers to a relaxed getaway, with guest rooms outfitted with flat-screen TVs, iHome stereo systems and private lanais (balconies). But you'll likely not be spending much time indoors, as the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort offers plenty in the way of island activities. On the property, you'll find several pools and lagoons worth laying by, as well as a variety of cultural performances taking place on any given day. Visitors enjoy indulging at the Anara Spa and teeing off on the gorgeous Po'ipu Bay Golf Course. And when it comes to dining, travelers say you really can't go wrong with the Grand Hyatt's restaurants, which serve up a variety of cuisines ranging from Hawaiian to Asian to Italian. The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa is along the south coast of Kauai, east of Po'ipu Beach. Members of the Hyatt Gold Passport rewards program can earn and redeem points here. more
