The first Four Seasons property to open at Disney World, this resort — which sits about 3 miles southeast of the Magic Kingdom — aims to fill the park's luxury lodging void. And judging by its amenities, the Four Seasons Resort Orlando At Walt Disney World Resort appears to be succeeding. With its own 18-hole golf course, 13,000-square-foot spa and rooftop steakhouse, the Four Seasons is well-suited for travelers who want easy access to the theme parks, without the over-the-top kitsch associated with Disney-owned properties. That's not to say that the resort doesn't cater to little ones: The hotel also boasts a 242-foot waterslide, an 11,008-square-foot lazy river and the complimentary Kids' Camp. Plus, the Four Seasons offers its own Disney character breakfasts, complimentary park shuttle service and a Disney Planning Center — a separate concierge desk designed for mapping out your park itinerary and purchasing tickets. Aside from its amenities, the Four Seasons also excels in its accommodations, according to recent guests. Rooms are outfitted with large soaking tubs, flat-screen TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi. Recent travelers especially appreciated the comfy beds and contemporary decor (think white furnishings with muted teal accents). And while visitors were impressed with their accommodations, they were not as pleased with the pricey nightly rates. more

Travelers speak highly of their time at the Villas of Grand Cypress. Previous guests, from families to couples to business travelers, describe the resort, tucked onto Orlando's North Jacaranda Street, as a gem. Rooms here feature state-of-the-art amenities like spacious bathrooms with Roman tubs, flat-screen TVs and high-speed Internet access. What's more, the villas come with a pretty sweet view; private patios face either the nearby waterways or the resort's fairways. Speaking of greens, The Villas of Grand Cypress boasts 45 holes of courses to conquer. For those who don't golf, the resort also prides itself on being a family-friendly. Outdoor activities for older kids include tennis courts and rock climbing walls, two oversized swimming pools and several biking, jogging and hiking trails. In addition to serving cuisine that travelers rave about at the on-site restaurants. But there's a catch: The opulence of the Villas of Grand Cypress doesn't come cheap. more

Located in the southeast corner of Walt Disney World, the Waldorf Astoria Orlando feels a lot like its New York counterpart. You'll find similar design elements (like the infamous clock in the hotel lobby), and notable dining establishments like Peacock Alley and the Bull & Bear Steakhouse are reproduced here. But this Waldorf Astoria property is decidedly Floridian, with citrus hues accenting the decor and on-site facilities that make the most of the warm weather and sunshine. The big draw here is the 18-hole championship golf course, perfectly accompanied by the natural wetland backdrop. And the cabana-lined infinity pool is a great place to catch a tan. Meanwhile, guest rooms here come with 42-inch flat-screen LCD TVs, coffee makers and the Italian marble bathrooms have separate soaking tubs. But for many guests, the highlight of a stay at the Waldorf Astoria Orlando is the customer service; visitors are blown away by the friendly, helpful staff. If you're a Hilton HHonors rewards club member, you can use or earn points here. more

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is as opulent as it gets when it comes to Walt Disney World accommodations. The Victorian era is revived in the decor found in the five-story lobby — complete with an open-cage elevator and magnificent chandeliers — and the plush guest rooms. Lodging options here come equipped with amenities like flat-screen TVs and complimentary high-speed Internet; however, some travelers say that the rooms in Disney's flagship resort are beginning to feel a bit tired. And though the Grand Floridian is kid-friendly with loads of activities, the posh resort is the best bet for young couples looking for a quieter place to stay. Extras like afternoon high tea and daily piano performances in the lobby lend an elegant tone, but there are still fun perks like character breakfasts for the kids (youngsters can also indulge in their own afternoon tea with disney princesses). Another perk about staying at the Grand Floridian: having an on-site monorail station that is just one stop away from the Magic Kingdom. more

Located near Magic Kingdom within the confines of Walt Disney World, Disney's Wilderness Lodge has an ambiance that's reminiscent of the North America's national parks. The lobby is built with pine and stone, and just outside the front door are acres of trees, never mind a man-made geyser. Recent travelers marvel at the lobby's towering fireplace and love the Wilderness Lodge's secluded feel; however, some visitors say that it can be difficult to reach other points of interest around the park. But the Wilderness Lodge's rustic rooms are popular with families — what kid doesn't love wooden bunk beds? — and the Artist Point restaurant's Pacific Northwest seafood and sirloin make the eatery one of the park's more popular dinner options. And while staying here, travelers have access to a variety of outdoor sports equipment, such as bicycles, sailboats and fishing gear. more

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of the more unique Walt Disney World properties. No, it's not the lobby's thatched roof and chandeliers made out of warrior shield reproductions — although the decor is worth noting — it's the four savannahs right outside your door. The resort is set up in a kraal design (a semi-circular shape that's common in Africa) with balconies overlooking wild grasslands, making it all the better for you to see the ostriches, giraffes and zebras that roam the grounds. Guest rooms are pretty standard: Aside from decorative touches like carved wood and fabrics inspired by Kente cloth, you'll find all the usual makings of a high-end hotel, including complimentary Wi-Fi access, floor-to-ceiling windows and coffee makers. Meanwhile, the downstairs Boma - Flavors of Africa restaurant is highly regarded for its creative cuisine. And when you're not enjoying the park, previous guests recommend making use of the on-site pools and playground. As its name suggests, you can find this resort in the Animal Kingdom area of Disney World. more

Owned by the neighboring Rollins College, The Alfond offers modern accommodations about 20 miles northeast of the major theme parks in the Orlando area. The boutique hotel boasts an art collection, a large sunk-in pool and more than 10,000 square feet of meeting space. Recent guests said the staff is friendly and helpful, and noted that the southern cooking from the on-site restaurant, Hamilton's Kitchen, was delicious. Guests also say the clean rooms didn't disappoint either. The guest rooms are decorated with homey touches like coffee makers and minifridges, and the marble bathrooms feature glass-walled showers. The hotel is also a popular choice for weddings and business conferences because of its unique indoor and outdoor venues, like the glass ceiling conservatory overlooking the enclosed courtyard and verdant gardens.  more

The Beach Club Resort is Disney's interpretation of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Though it shares many amenities with Disney's Yacht Club, the Beach Club has a more casual feel. You can also experience the flavors of the Atlantic coast at the resort's restaurants: Enjoy whimsical boardwalk favorites at the Beaches & Cream Soda Shop, or get your fill of seafood at the Cape May Café's buffet. And for something a little swankier, dress up for surf 'n' turf at the New England-inspired Yachtsman Steakhouse. Meanwhile, Beach Club guest rooms here boast private balconies (recent travelers recommend requesting a room with an Epcot view to enjoy the nightly fireworks), complimentary Wi-Fi and coffee makers. And there's also a ferry service that will take you to nearby Epcot if you don't feel like making the hike to the theme park's back entrance. Recent guests, mainly staying for access to Walt Disney World, praise the Beach Club's location but some note that the interior could use some updating.  more

Disney's BoardWalk Inn is essentially a recreation of the old Atlantic City. Older families and young couples love the boardwalk and awesome view of nearby Epcot's nightly fireworks displays. But fair warning: The surrounding area's activity does continue late into the night. If you want a good night's sleep, ask for a quieter room away from the bustling boardwalk. No matter which room you stay in, you'll find it equipped with complimentary Wi-Fi, coffeemakers, and in select rooms, private balconies. Although the late-night noise may not suit younger travelers, the BoardWalk Inn's Luna Park Pool — with its 200-foot water slide — certainly will. And visitors of all ages can enjoy a ride along the boardwalk on the resort's community bikes. No matter how you choose to start your day, start off your night with a hearty plate of fresh seafood at the Flying Fish Café. more
