Our Take: In addition to the excellent food (served in six different eateries) and the PGA golf courses, The Cloister boasts one of the best views on all of Sea Island, Ga. In other words, you'll want to request one of the rooms facing the Black Banks River. Previous guests gush over the number of activities available for young kids, like Camp Cloister Mondays through Saturdays, or cookie-making. Slightly older kids might enjoy crabbing or fishing off the Cloister dock, or horesback riding along the south end of Sea Island beach. Recent lodgers also rave about the expansive 65,000-square-foot Cloister Spa, which offers treatments like the guest-recommended "Botanical Gommage," a botanical cleanse, polish, and massage. The resort sits on the island's southern tip, sharing real estate with its smaller sister hotel, The Lodge at Sea Island. The closest airport, Malcolm McKinnon (SSI), is less than a 10-minute drive away, while Savannah is about 64 miles north.
