How it Ranks: The Adolphus ranks #9 out of 782 Dallas - Fort Worth Hotels based on an evaluation of expert ratings and awards, as well as user reviews. The hotel scored high enough to make the U.S. News list of the Best Hotels in Dallas - Fort Worth.
Our Take: Everyone from Babe Ruth to Queen Elizabeth II has spent the night at The Adolphus, which was opened by beer tycoon Adolphus Busch in 1912. Close to the Neiman Marcus' flagship store in Dallas' historic district, this hotel exudes elegance and charm and appeals to those looking for an old-timey yet still luxurious stay. The décor in the guestrooms is reminiscent of an English country estate, with period furnishings mingling with flat-screen TVs, pillow-top mattresses, and complimentary wireless Internet access. However, the hotel's old-fashioned style doesn't sit well with every traveler: Some guests say The Adolphus feels a little shabby (and not in a chic way). But most visitors agree that the food served at the French Room restaurant is worth the rather high price tag, with some diners even saying that it's some of the best in the city.
