U.S. News Review

Everyone from Babe Ruth to Queen Elizabeth II has spent the night at The Adolphus, which was opened by beer tycoon Adolphus Busch in 1912. Close to the Neiman Marcus' flagship store in Dallas' historic district, this hotel exudes elegance and charm and appeals to those looking for an old-timey yet still luxurious stay. The decor in the guest rooms is reminiscent of an English country estate, yet features flat-screen TVs, pillow-top mattresses and wet bars. However, the hotel's old-fashioned style doesn't sit well with every traveler: Some guests say The Adolphus feels a little shabby (and not in a chic way). But most visitors agree that the food served at the French Room restaurant is worth the rather high price tag, with some diners even saying that it's some of the best cuisine in the city.
