Our Take: With roughly 7 miles separating Azul Fives from Playa del Carmen's busy downtown area, this Karisma property lures travelers with the promise of seclusion. Although Azul Fives rubs elbows with esteemed competitors — such as the Banyan Tree Mayakoba and the Fairmont Mayakoba — along the resort town's northern shoreline, this resort can easily rest on its own laurels. Housing 360 one-, two- and three-bedroom suites (all equipped with flat-screen TVs, spacious bathrooms and private balconies or terraces), Azul Fives makes a great home base for group travelers.
