U.S. News Review

Located just one block west of Central Park, The Empire Hotel pampers guests with high-end amenities like a pool deck, a rooftop bar and lounge and a chic dining venue, Ed's Chowder House. Specializing in laid-back luxury, each of the 426 accommodations features bright pops of color, modern accents and upscale extras like high-end bath products, iPod docking stations and plush Frette linens. However, some recent visitors do cite lacking customer service and a high noise level as two major drawbacks. If you're looking for a quieter urban oasis, you may want to consider bedding down elsewhere.

Critic Reviews

Condé Nast Traveler

“Rooftop cocktails at the Empire Hotel are possible even in sub-freezing temperatures thanks to a retractable glass roof. Bask in the glow of the hotel’s iconic neon sign, up since 1923.”

“In a prime Upper West Side spot, the sophisticated Empire Hotel attracts locals for views from the rooftop pool and lounge area...while guests appreciate the rooms, which are a comfortable and chic escape from the bustle of the city.”

“It wasn't until a 2005 renovation that anyone would actually want to stay here. Now, it's as swank as its surroundings (it's right across the street from Lincoln Center), and even the smallest rooms have a feeling of luxury to them.”
