Our Take: Sandwiched between the Asian-influenced Banyan Tree Mayakoba and sensual Rosewood Mayakoba, this member of the Fairmont family upholds its brand's standards along this luxurious stretch of sand just north of Playa del Carmen. This mammoth Fairmont property houses 401 guestrooms, all of which come outfitted in bright yellow décor with wood accents, LCD televisions and both wired and wireless Internet access (for an extra fee). The 47-acre property also houses the PGA championship El Camaleón Golf Course, the 37,000-square-foot Willow Stream Spa and four on-site restaurants (not including the two pool bars and the lobby bar). And if you're traveling with children, sign them up for Fairmont's Kid's Club; they can spend their days making piñatas, taking boat tours and participating in treasure hunts. To make the most of your stay at the Fairmont Mayakoba, consider booking one of the resort's all-inclusive packages. But be careful: Some guests warn that food and drink exceptions to the all-inclusive rule can quickly raise your rate.
