U.S. News Review
Once a family colonial-style residence associated with the French East India Company, Hotel Bakoua Martinique preserves its authentic ambiance with Creole-style rooms and decorative accents. Uncluttered spaces, cane furniture and rich woods create an inviting Trois-Îlets retreat, especially for travelers who need a hotel within 30 minutes of the Airport Martinique Aimé Césaire. Accommodations overlook Fort-de-France Bay and the white, sandy beach, which can be seen from each room's furnished balcony or terrace. Despite the scenery, recent guests describe the guest rooms as dated and in need of a facelift. But a Martinique vacation isn't about sitting in your room — it's about enjoying warm, turquoise waters. Kayak, wind surf, snorkel or tee off at the off-site 18-hole golf course, located a few miles south of the hotel. Hotel Bakoua also houses two restaurants and two bars, but recent guests say the service isn't up to four-star standards.
