U.S. News Review

The massive Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa's two 40-story towers occupy almost an entire city block along the shores of Waikiki Beach. The impressive lobby located on the second floor is lush with koa plants climbing the atrium walls and cackling parrots flitting around waterfall fixtures. Accommodations feature private balconies, iHome stereos and flat-screen TVs, and travelers say that this Hyatt hotel's 2015 renovation was much needed and improved the tired and dated feel of the rooms. Past guests do warn of the daily resort fee, which might come as a bit of a shock when it comes time to pay your final bill. Still, a stay here will grant you easy access to Honolulu's most popular beach area, as well as a decent array of hotel facilities. The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach encompasses the full-service Na Ho'ola Spa, a sprawling swimming pool and three restaurants. And during your stay, the hotel invites you to participate in the complimentary cultural activities, which include ukelele lessons and Hawaiian arts and crafts. Members of the Hyatt Gold Passport rewards program can earn and redeem points here.

Critic Reviews

Travel + Leisure

“The bathtub-temp turquoise water is ideal for swimming, and waves are usually gentle enough for children and beginning surfers. One of the safest spots is near the shallow section in front of the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa, where even non-swimmers can feel comfortable venturing far from shore for a view of the beach — and Diamond Head — from the water.”

“On an upper deck of The Hyatt Regency Waikiki, you are above street level so nice treetop and beach views are yours.”

“An open-air atrium with three levels of shopping, a two-story waterfall, and free nightly live entertainment make this one of the liveliest lobbies anywhere.”

“Though it's a well-trafficked resort, the rooms and common areas are impressively clean. Even in the public shopping mall, it's difficult to find traces of foot traffic.”
