Our Take: Named after the co-founder of the Central Pacific Railroad, this hotel was bought by InterContinental in 1973. And some say that through the acquisition, the hotel lost a bit of its character. Still, many enjoy this Nob Hill hotel and its great views of San Francisco and the bay. It's especially popular among business travelers, who can use the 21 meeting rooms and services like the Insider Collection, a range of activities and speakers that focus on the local community.
