U.S. News Review

Named after the co-founder of the Central Pacific Railroad, this hotel was bought by InterContinental in 1973. And some say that through the acquisition, the hotel lost a bit of its character, with the decor looking more dated than charming. Still, many enjoy this Nob Hill hotel and the great views of San Francisco from its in-house restaurant, Top of the Mark. Not to be confused with its sister property, the InterContinental San Francisco in SoMA, this hotel is especially popular among business travelers, who can use the 21 meeting rooms and take advantage of the property's business center and high-speed Internet connection (for a fee). Leisure travelers will appreciate the hotel's proximity to popular San Fran neighborhoods like Fisherman's Wharf and Chinatown, as well as the city's famed cable cars. The InterContinental Mark Hopkins also offers pillow menus and Keurig coffee makers in all of its rooms and an on-site fitness center.
