Our Take: Set about 7 miles south of Puerto Vallarta, the Presidente Puerto Vallarta Resort features some stunning scenery. Guests adore this InterContinental hotel's white-sand beach and pristine Pacific waters, as well as the dense jungle rising behind the property. The private terraces adorning each of the Presidente's 82 guestrooms and suites overlook these natural wonders. Inside the rooms, you'll find Mexican-inspired décor, individual climate control and high-speed Internet access. And although the Presidente is not all-inclusive, guests still like to stay on-site for meals at the hotel's three restaurants. The Italian restaurant, Alfredo di Roma, can be a bit too formal for some guests (and is only open in the high season), but the more casual Frutas y Flores and the poolside Caña Brava Snack & Bar impress guests with tasty Mexican staples at reasonable prices. After a day of sunbathing, snorkeling or relaxing at the Aura Spa, stop in at the Sunset Bar on the fifth floor for margaritas and mingling.
