Our Take: For one of its newer properties (open since November 2010), Marriott took extra care on the details. For example, this hotel features a fitness complex with a virtual bowling alley and a 10,000-square foot NBA-approved basketball court (both fee-based). And the swimming pool is a massive stainless steel beauty that's outside (a rarity for downtown Miami). Any one of the 313 rooms feature illy espresso machines, 52-inch flat screens, and pillow menus. The effort hasn't gone unnoticed by those who've already stayed in the Marquis. Most have positive reports to give on the accommodating staff and the fun gadgets. And since there are so many Marriotts in this town, remember this pointer: This outpost is surrounded by the fine dining and swank hotels of Biscayne Boulevard.
