Our Take: Though Malliouhana Hotel & Spa may not be as opulent as some of its West End competitors, it makes up for its lacking extravagance with spacious rooms and a 15,000-square-foot oceanfront spa. Standard rooms start at 760 square feet and include a marble bathroom and a covered patio ideal for enjoying the beach or garden. The deluxe suites offer more luxurious amenities, including a private outdoor Jacuzzi and a private 6-foot-deep plunge pool, which guests say is especially ideal if you're here on honeymoon. If you aren't privy to a private pool, take your pick between two fresh water swimming pools or nearby Meads Beach for water sports like windsurfing, water skiing, and snorkeling. When it's time to bid adieu to another sunny day, grab drinks at the Sunset Bar, but avoid the Michel Rostang at Malliouhana restaurant if you can. Though a Michelin-starred chef is at the helm, guests say the restaurant is overpriced.
