Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas

Overview

Nestled in the heart of the Strip, this member of the Mandarin Oriental clan doesn't feature a casino on the property. And with only 392 guest rooms and suites, this hotel is practically a boutique compared to the Strip's monumental towers. But guests love the Mandarin Oriental's quiet and classy atmosphere and they don't mind leaving the hotel to hit the slots. The spacious rooms are particularly popular, filled with features like 42-inch flat-screen TVs, soaking tubs and separate showers, and the design aesthetic highlights sleek and subtle Asian-inspired touches. Another traveler favorite is the critically acclaimed spa, which guests say has some of the best masseuses on the Strip. You'll find the Mandarin Oriental tucked between the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino and the Shops at Crystals shopping complex, smack dab in the middle of the Las Vegas Strip.

At the 392-room property, interior designer Adam Tihany tries to re-create the experience of contemporary Hong Kong. When guests step off the elevator at the 23rd-floor lobby, they encounter what he calls a 'gold bullion wall,' a shimmering blast of gilded geometry.

Fodor's

As a brand, Mandarin Oriental pledges to provide everything for the business traveler, and the Vegas property certainly delivers on that promise. Rooms are on the small side, though sumptuous sheets and soothing Asian-inspired artwork relieve any closed-in feelings you might have. The in-room desk comes with hardware that can project a laptop screen on the television.

... the playground of the rich vibe greets you as soon as you walk in the door. The top hat-wearing doorman will greet you and attendants will guide you to an elevator that whisks you to the 23rd-floor Sky Lobby. With floor-to-ceiling windows facing the Strip, it is without a doubt the most dramatic lobby in town. A tearoom, bar, and a French restaurant from world-renowned chef Pierre Gagnaire complete this floor, all with similar stunning views.
