U.S. News Review

If you plan on staying at this Mandarin Oriental hotel, don't plan on being surrounded by the raucous environment most visitors expect of Magic City. This sophisticated hotel on the shores of Brickell Key on Biscayne Bay has an intimate feel that might make it hard to remember that you're in busy, buzzy Miami. (The Mandarin Oriental even boasts a private beach to ward off your wanderlust for South Beach sand.) Inside the hotel, you'll find 326 rooms with trendy art deco and Asian design elements and a bright beige and orange color scheme. Each accommodation also comes with a high-definition TV, a spacious bathroom (fitted with a separate soaking tub and a walk-in glass shower) and a private balcony that offers spectacular views of the city and the bay. As much as they love the rooms, recent travelers save some kudos for the hotel facilities, especially the infinity pool, the in-house spa and the on-site French-Asian fusion restaurant, Azul.

Critic Reviews

“The sumptuous, colorful rooms — renovated in 2011 — face either west toward the downtown skyline or east over Miami Beach and the blue Atlantic.”
Award: Fodor's Choice

Condé Nast Traveler

“The spa is outfitted with bamboo, rice paper, golden stones, and natural linens, and offers treatments like a ginger, mandarin, and frankincense body scrub that is 'to die for.' ”

“Luxury, serenity, discretion (a plus for the celebs that pass through) pretty much sum it up here, whether in the wood-and-stone lobby, superb two-story spa, pair of restaurants (one the nouvel Peruvian La Mar, the other the contemporary fusion Azul, both among Miami's top destination dining spots), or elegant, pale-yellow rooms — all not just with water/skyline views but also balconies.”
Award: Frommer's Exceptional

“Chic, Asian-inspired decor, a three-level spa, and modern fitness center help soothe jangled nerves, while oversized rooms with water views offer ample opportunity to decompress.”

Travel + Leisure

“In fact, only in Miami would a Mandarin have a private man-made beach and a weekly Sunday party that rivals the social fray of South Beach.”
