Our Take: Overlooking Lake Placid's Main Street from a hill-top perch, the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa has been an Adirondack mainstay since 1883. The resort is filled with exposed wooden beams and cozy fireplaces reminiscent of the lodges of yesteryear, but Mirror Lake is still catching up to the times. Accommodations are outfitted with gorgeous Harden Furniture pieces, TVs, DVD players and AM/FM radio clocks. But the views are this resort's main attraction, according to recent visitors. The Inn boasts beautiful vistas of Mirror Lake and the surrounding mountains. Travelers also praise the delectable culinary offerings available at The View, Täste Bistro, and The Cottage.
