Our Take: Set at the base of the glorious Mount Liamiuga, approximately a 15-minute drive from Basseterre, this quaint 18th-century sugar plantation-turned-inn sprawls across 35 acres of St Kitts' northeastern coast. Ottley's touts all the amenities of an authentic Caribbean inn: The 23 rooms are filled with wicker and mahogany furnishings, locally crafted artwork, and private balconies or patios. Outside, guests have access to pristine tennis courts and a tranquil 65-foot pool (not to mention the Mango Orchard Spa). When hunger sets in, retreat to the intimate Royal Palm Restaurant, which serves up flavorful international entrees with a side of striking views of emerald hills and brilliant Atlantic waters. Despite Ottley's picturesque surroundings, recent guests bemoan its inconvenient location, claiming that accessing St. Kitts' most scenic beaches requires renting a car.
