U.S. News Review

The spacious Outrigger Waipouli Beach Resort is one of Kauai's best options for families. The resort hosts spacious suites and rentable condos that include one or two bedrooms, ample living space, full kitchens and Jacuzzi tubs. According to many recent guests, the Outrigger Waipouli Beach Resort has all the comforts of home — with a few extras thrown in. Although you can certainly do your own cooking, you can also forgo dish duty in favor of a fresh seafood meal at the award-winning Oasis on the Beach restaurant. Meanwhile, the waterslides, river pool and three sand-bottom whirlpool spas are fun enough to draw you and your kids away from the beach. And the in-house Spa by the Sea offers a wide range of Hawaiian-inspired massages and body treatments (though a few travelers criticized the high cost of services). You should also note that the Outrigger's isolated location in Kapaa can be either refreshing or frustrating — though most visitors say the secluded setting is their primary reason for wanting to return. On the other hand, some travelers mention a few disappointing customer service snafus.

Critic Reviews

“At the Outrigger Waipouli Beach Resort, the extravagance starts (and almost ends) in the rooms. The beautifully decorated one- and two-bedroom suites are among the most luxurious in Kauai.”

“Although its namesake beach is not good for swimming, kids and quite a number of adults are happy to spend all day in the heated fantasy pool here; it stretches across 2 acres with a lazily flowing river, sandy-bottomed hot tubs and children’s pool, twin water slides, and waterfalls, amid lush landscaping.”
