Our Take: The Renaissance stands proudly as one of the only luxury hotels in Glendale (a suburb located west of downtown Phoenix). Its unbeatable proximity to the Jobing.com Arena and the University of Phoenix Stadium—homes of the Phoenix Coyotes and the Arizona Cardinals, respectively—is the main draw for many guests. However, the hotel's 24-hour business center and 100,000 square feet of meet space makes this member of the Renaissance Hotels family a popular home base for working travelers. While it may not be as flashy as some of the Valley's other sprawling resorts, this property does offer comfort on a budget. Previous guests were satisfied with the guestrooms (which feature flat-screen TVs and ample work space), though some lament having to pay an extra fee to access the wireless Internet. And although it's location may not be the most convenient for sightseeing, travelers appreciated the resort's on-site amenities, such as the Spa Botanica and the Soleil restaurant. Because this hotel resides under the massive Marriott Hotels Group umbrella, members of the brand's rewards program can earn and redeem points here.
