Our Take: With sweeping views of Fort Rodney and volcanic mountains rising from brilliant turquoise waters, the Grande St. Lucian stands as the only resort on the island that is flanked on both sides by the Caribbean Sea. Because of its unique position on the island, transport from the airport to the resort can be a bit bumpy, so guests recommend booking a helicopter instead. Despite its hard-to-reach location, the Grande St. Lucian is more of a theme park village than a secluded island retreat, offering a nearly endless supply of restaurants, recreation, and amenities. And with the free inter-Sandals shuttle service, there are an additional 12 restaurants and numerous beach activities available if you tire of the Grande St. Lucian's five pools, scuba diving lessons, and tennis facilities. Rooms feature Roman tubs, high-end linens, and luxurious furnishings. With Sandals Grande Lucian's bevy of activities, restaurants, and prime location just south of Pigeon Island National Park, guests say the resort provides a packed itinerary and just the right amount of relaxation.
