Our Take: The Sandals Royal Bahamian sets itself apart from Sandals Emerald Bay with its longstanding connection to its regal heritage. Before it was part of the Sandals family, this retreat was known as the Balmoral Club—a famed 1940s escape for the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. Upholding the Balmoral's legacy, Sandals Royal Bahamian's main entrance and lobby display frescoed ceilings and opulent chandeliers, while rooms include Old-World colonial accents. Sandals Royal Bahamian also features a Red Lane® Spa, seven pools, and complimentary gear for kayaking, sailing, and scuba diving (lessons are included in the resort fees). And if you crave a change in scenery, hop on a free boat and within minutes you'll be on Sandals' private offshore island with access to two secluded beaches, a lagoon-style pool, and a seafood eatery. Though recent guests say the private beach is a fun getaway, they also lament the company of pesky mosquitoes. If the fresh sea fare on the offshore island doesn't satiate your appetite, head back to the mainland and decide between 10 on-site restaurants.
