U.S. News Review

The casitas at The Boulders Resort & Spa in Carefree, Arizona (roughly 34 miles north of downtown Phoenix) look out over miles of cacti and rugged mountains. When you're not admiring the views from your private patio or balcony, order room service and curl up in front of your wood-burning fireplace. You can also play golf on one of two courses, lounge by one of four pools or grab a bite to eat at one of six restaurants. However, according to recent visitors, you'd be remiss if you stayed here and didn't indulge in a treatment at the on-site spa. Because of the resort's ties to Hilton Hotels, members of the HHonors loyalty program can use points to pay for rooms — that means additional cash to invest in massages and facials.

Critic Reviews

Condé Nast Traveler

“Built to blend into the landscape of prehistoric boulders and towering saguaro cacti, the 1,300-acre resort retains a serene outlook, even while civilization laps at its gates (there’s a Target five minutes away).”

Fodor's

“One of the country's top resorts — and one of the few with an all-organic approach — hides amid hill-size, 12-million-year-old granite boulders and the lush Sonoran Desert. Casitas snuggled against the rocks have exposed log-beam ceilings and curved, pueblo-style half walls.”
