Our Take: Nestled on the shore just steps from Newport's popular Cliff Walk, The Chanler's strongest feature is its breathtaking scenery. But there are plenty more compelling reasons to bed down here. The rooms are beautifully designed and named for royalty—the Louis XIV and the English Tudor suites are among the most dramatic. Each comes appointed with exquisite amenities, like Molton Brown bath products, free Wi-Fi access, wet bars, iPod docking stations, and DVD players. Recent guests praise the hotel's easy access to the picturesque Cliff Walk and tasty cuisine served at the Spiced Pear, which serves up the hotel's signature cocktails, the Spiced Pear Martini and the Cliff Hanger. Guests also have three additional dining venues to pick from during their stay. The Chanler's attentive staff and romantic, tranquil setting also wins over visitors. Though a stay at the hotel will surely thin out your wallet, previous visitors say the indulgence is well worth the cost.
