Our Take: This quaint collection of 18th and 19th century properties—connected by verdant gardens—is reminiscent of an English country escape from a bygone era. Each of the 25 rooms has a distinct personality evoked by features like old books and antique, hand-carved four-poster beds. Naturally, this cozy hideaway is perfect for honeymooners. And recent guests are in love with the service staff as well as the elegant décor: Owners Gery and Paula Conover are regularly applauded by name for their attention to detail and their impeccably trained staff. But tech-addicts be forewarned: Cell phones are banned on the property. And to further preserve the quieter atmosphere, the Charlotte Inn has a 14 years and older kid policy. You won't want to miss sitting down for an exquisite meal inside the opulent Terrace Restaurant, which is consistently lauded for its flavorful cuisine.
