U.S. News Review
If you want character, stay at The Fairmount (not to be confused with Fairmont). This boutique hotel occupies a Victorian-era building in downtown San Antonio, close to many of the city's most beloved attractions. The historic property is decked out in rich European fabrics and antique furniture. Guests stay in one-of-a-kind rooms. Each accommodation features its own personal decor, which some recent guests found outdated while others loved the turn-of-the-century charm. But all rooms come equipped with flat-screen TVs and complimentary wireless Internet. Some recent visitors complained of housekeeping issues, but almost everyone fell in love with The Fairmount's "Pet Concierge," Luke, a lovable golden lab with plenty of personality. After you work up an appetite playing with the property pooch, you'll have to find dining elsewhere as the on-site restaurant is closed for renovations. How we rank hotels
