Our Take: Although the Heathman Hotel (located in downtown Portland) does have some shortcomings, like expensive parking, guests still willingly submit to its overall elegant atmosphere and excellent service staff. Speaking of ambience: inside, there's an art gallery with changing exhibits; the coffee comes in French presses; and the restaurant/bar (also called Heathman) serves delicious—albeit slightly expensive—food. Guests gush about the tasteful furnishings in the lobby, though some say that the beds in the guestrooms tend to dominate the small-ish accommodations.
