Our Take: The Kahala Hotel & Resort, located a few miles from Diamond Head on the coast of the posh Kahala neighborhood, has played host to a long list of ritzy clients. Even lovebirds Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton came to stay at this Honolulu classic after their first marriage in 1964. So naturally, the rooms are fairly posh, featuring teak parquet floors, mahogany furnishings, and grass-cloth covered walls. And recent travelers rave about each of the five restaurants found on-site, particularly the Hawaiian/Asian/European-fusion cuisine served at Hoku's.
