Our Take: Just outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, this Gatlinburg, Tenn. gem has a loyal set of lodgers that keep returning for the outstanding mountain views, spacious accommodations, and the amiable staff. But you'll have to like rustic to be pleased. The Lodge at Buckberry Creek is just that—a lodge—with a decorating scheme that its website calls "Adirondack style." Most vacationers choose to take advantage of the area's hiking and fishing opportunities. If you have less-active, more luxurious tastes, consider indulging in the soaking tub (there's one in each room) or book an in-room massage. You'll find Gatlinburg about 220 miles east of Nashville.
