Our Take: According to recent guests, The Lodge at Sea Island Golf Club is Southern luxury at its best. Prospective visitors will have access to championship golf courses and a choice between any one of six decadent eateries, not to mention a new food truck. And then the rooms—oh the rooms!—are opulently decorated with Oriental rugs, spacious bathrooms with deep-soaking tubs, and 24-hour butler service. If you're having trouble deciding between the Lodge and its sister property, The Cloister at Sea Island, keep in mind that the latter often sees more families. On the other hand, previous guests say that the smaller Lodge's quieter ambience might better suit couples. The resort sits on the southern tip of Sea Island, Ga. The closest airport, Malcolm McKinnon (SSI), is less than a 10-minute drive away. Savannah is about 64 miles north.
