U.S. News Review

Perched on the Upper East Side, just a couple blocks away from Fifth Avenue's sleek storefronts, The Lowell New York provides travelers with easy access to iconic city attractions and venerable department stores. But that's not the only reason recent guests adore this stylish boutique. The Lowell exudes a serene, elegant ambiance, further enhanced by its calming gold, cream and ochre color scheme. By New York standards, The Lowell is small (74 rooms and suites); however, many previous travelers call the hotel's quiet, cozy atmosphere the perfect retreat from the buzzing city blocks. Accommodations come appointed with luxurious extras, like plush down comforters, flat-screen TVs and deep soaking tubs — all major pluses, according to previous visitors. The refreshing afternoon teatime, complete with Devonshire cream-topped scones and finger sandwiches takes place in the second-floor Pembroke Room and also earns a nod of approval from recent guests.

Critic Reviews

“Thirty-three of the suites — all decorated in different themes — have working wood-burning fireplaces, and 14 have private terraces.”

“The Lowell is a high-end boutique known for its top-notch service and gorgeous individually decorated rooms. It is located in the tony Upper East Side, a block from Central Park, and a short walk from designer boutiques along Madison and Fifth avenues.”

Travel + Leisure

“Rooms on floors 14-17 have already benefited from Michael Smith's tasteful makeover; the posh Manhattan Suite, on the 12th floor, has a whirlpool and the hotel's only steam shower. Low down, the more affordable 10C has both a terrace and a fireplace.”

“The English influences extend to the Pembroke Room, where Anglophiles can throw their pinkies up at tea time (breakfast and brunch is also served).”

Condé Nast Traveler

“The service is uniformly discreet and everyone, from John Galliano to a frazzled family running late for a flight, is treated with the utmost respect.”
