U.S. News Review

According to recent visitors, this fashionable boutique hotel is, as its name suggests, right on the mark. Located just one block from Central Park and Fifth Avenue, this European-style retreat places visitors in an enviable location, with easy access to iconic city landmarks and shopping streets. The decor is reminiscent of 1930s Paris, with a calming beige color palette and marble trimmings. But keep in mind, there are modern accoutrements here, too, such as Bang & Olufsen audio systems and plush Italian bedding. The elegance extends to the stylish Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges, which boasts delectable French fare. In addition to the impeccable cuisine, the gracious staff also earns a nod of approval from recent guests. Most travelers agree: If you're looking for a charming Manhattan oasis, this first-rate hotel is well worth the splurge.

Critic Reviews

Harper's Bazaar

“The concierge with the city's best babysitters on speed-dial, the complimentary car service and the bespoke staff service you only get in a boutique hotel is a real home-away-from-home.”

“The hotel's on-site restaurant and bar from famed chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten is the perfect spot for celebs to unwind with a drink like a cool cucumber martini or a lychee raspberry Bellini.”
Award: Forbes Travel Guide Four Star Awards 2014

Condé Nast Traveler

“A word of warning: Some of the 150 guest rooms are on the small side, though all the bathrooms are huge and hedonistic, with tubs built for two and small TVs tucked discreetly into the mirrors.”

“Rooms are opulently appointed in very modern style, with plush Italian linens, Sub-Zero freezers for ice, and more closet space than most New York City apartments.”
Award: Fodor's Choice

Travel + Leisure

“Hotel-branded bikes? Been there, done that. But on New York City’s Upper East Side, The Mark Hotel is putting a new twist on the now-classic amenity. ... the hotel’s black-and-white striped pedicabs will be whisking guests to nearby attractions — Central Park, Bergforf Goodman, or the Guggenheim Museum — on a complimentary basis.”
