Our Take: Occupying prime real estate on Chicago's coveted Magnificent Mile, the Peninsula Chicago combines Hong Kong's cosmopolitan flair with the city's Midwestern charm. The renowned Peninsula Spa is in a class by itself, but honorable mention also goes to the afternoon tea served in the lobby bar. The comfortable yet standard guestrooms come with modern techie touches, like a bedside remote command station that controls the lights, television, and room temperatures. Recent guests say the rooms are spacious, clean, and quiet. During your stay, guests also recommend making time for the tasty Cantonese dishes served in the Shanghai Terrace restaurant—though some found the cold atmosphere not as inviting as the cuisine.
