Our Take: Sure, this resort in Tucson's Catalina Foothills has the usual golf course (27 holes designed by PGA pro Jack Nicklaus), spa (with both indoor and outdoor treatment rooms), and gourmet dining (five establishments, to be exact). But despite all that, guests say that the best thing about The Westin La Paloma is its family-friendly atmosphere. Younger visitors will find loads of books, puzzles, and toys in the Westin Kids Club Discovery Room, while certified staff members provide childcare and supervised kid-centric activities like outdoor games and arts and crafts. Guests also say that their children enjoyed Westin's specially designed Kid's Pool. And with an exclusive adults-only pool, R&R-seekers can escape the noise. The only issue travelers had at this property was in regards to the resort fee, which is automatically attached to your bill whether or not you take advantage of the amenities covered by the charge. But because Westin is a part of the Starwood Hotels family, Preferred Guest loyalty club members can save money by trading in rewards points for free nights and room upgrades.
