Our Take: The White Mountain Hotel and Resort earns major kudos for its location alone: Set at the base of White Horse Ledge in North Conway, this scenic retreat has some of the most epic vistas of the White Mountains. But what recent guests really adore is this 80-room resort's homey feel. Visitors can't stop raving about the inviting on-site dining venues, Tullamore Tavern and Ledges Dining Room. Visitors also compliment the pleasant and attentive staff that are always ready to provide an update on ski slope conditions or to distribute fresh towels for the heated pool and Jacuzzi (both open year-round). Even the friendly property owners earn high praise for offering personalized service. But fair warning: Room rates may appear overpriced to those expecting a ritzy experience. That said, recent visitors report a satisfactory stay at the hotel's more laid-back getaway. All guestrooms and suites are simplistic, with Colonial style décor and a few upscale amenities, like 26-inch flat-screen TVs, 310 count sheets, and Aveda bath products.
