Our Take: Today, Stowe teems with high-end resorts, but Topnotch has the distinct honor of being the area's first. Rooms lean towards the smaller side, but guests appreciate their cozy vibe, bright tones, and bold patterns. The lobby's stone walls and large mounted moose head evoke a classic ski-lodge atmosphere, but the 35,000-foot spa space is anything but dated. Multiple pools, a co-ed sauna, and an indoor hot tub with an epic waterfall tantalize spa-goers, as do the 120 available spa services (like maple sugar body scrubs). Another crowd-pleaser: the zesty culinary offerings available at Norma's and Buttertub Bistro. Recent diners particularly praise Norma's for its exceptional food and "top-notch" service.
