U.S. News Review
Nestled on a 300-acre plot of land known as Wessex Hundred, just south of Williamsburg proper, Wedmore Place earns high praise from recent guests as a romantic getaway spot. Many even say a trip to Wedmore feels like being transported to the European countryside. The European decor dates back to the 19th century, with rich red and cream tones, oriental rugs and classic furniture. Each of the Wedmore's 28 accommodations features its own design inspired by a different European province and comes equipped with lavish bath products, plush bed linens and a wood-burning fireplace. But let's get to the real reason to visit: All guests (21 and over) can tag along on the regularly offered tours at the adjacent Williamsburg Winery. You can also sample the vineyard's specialties at Café Provençal, the hotel's in-house restaurant or at the Pool Terrace Wine Bar (open from May to September). If you would prefer to sit amid gorgeous vineyards, head to Gabriel Archer Tavern, located next to the Williamsburg Winery. How we rank hotels
