| About these ratings | ||
Fifth Avenue is known for its tony buildings, big-name designer stores and almost unattainable merchandise; so come south of Houston Street if you want to make your dollars stretch longer while purchasing one-of-a-kind items. Recent visitors are charmed by SoHo, not just for its eclectic and affordable stores, but also for its unforgettable cast-iron architecture."We loved soho for shopping, great boutique shops mingled with well known brands. We preferred shopping here to Fifth Avenue. Top of our places in NYC to shop," says one TripAdvisor user.
The best SoHo shopping runs from Broadway west to Sixth (an area of SoHo often referred to as "South Village"), and Houston Street south to Canal Street. You'll find some names you know along Broadway (Pottery Barn, Sephora, and H&M, to name a few), but also branch out to find lesser-known, eclectic stores like Distant Origin (on Mercer Street) or Ted Muehling (on Howard).
Visit the SoHo neighborhood website for more information on shopping or eating in the area.
