Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City Travel Tips
Rodgers and Hammerstein romanticized "the Sooner State" in the 1943 musical Oklahoma! Pretty girls, heroic cowboys, a charming Plains landscape and all the singing and dancing you could ask for: what's not to love? Now, this is Oklahoma City, the capital and largest metropolis in the state, so the sweet scent of "wavin' wheat" may be hard to find. But cowboys aren't: The city has one of the world's biggest livestock markets, and it contains the heavily praised National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. We can't remark on the appearances of the women, but we can say that they do like to let loose at Bricktown. In short, we hope you find yourself rising in an OKC hotel singing to yourself, "Oh what a beautiful morning!"
