Flooded with pottery, paintings, windows and lamps, the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art isn't for everybody. But if you love 19th and 20th century American art -- and the work of stained-glass guru Louis Comfort Tiffany in particular -- you're in for a rare treat at this Winter Park, Fla., venue. This beautiful setting is the home of the largest collection of Tiffany's jewelry, paintings, lamps and more; all arrayed in his distinctive, colorful style. One TripAdvisor user says it's "a gem in a land of amusement parks." Undoubtedly, your kids will be bored, but making at least an hour turn here is a great adult activity on a rainy afternoon. If you're traveling in November, considering visiting on a Friday night to enjoy some live music. And enjoy the fact that the cost of the concert is included in the regular cost of admission.
Located less than 10 miles outside of downtown Orlando, the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Admission prices vary, dependent on age, but shouldn't run you any more than $5 per person (keep in mind students get in for just $1 with a valid ID). Visit the museum's official website for more information on seasonal hours, special collections and ticket prices.
